Book Review
I am a bit mixed with my feelings on this book.
I read this book for the first time about 6 years ago. I remember loving it, and to this day I still have lots of fond thoughts on it and of my time reading it when I was younger.
Rereading it was a mistake, because now when I think of it I'll just think, 'It's good. It's okay.' I will no longer think, 'It's amazing! Highly recommend!', and to lose that bit of magic in a book is disappointing. Especially when it relates to some time in the past and you've thought highly of it for years.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the book. I finished it in a day, but just because it's addicting doesn't mean it's good.
Everything was extremely frustrating. They were both extremely irrational and causing unnecessary drama about everything. If they both stopped randomly giving up and actually worked on things the book would've ended a lot faster.
Abby drove me nuts! You can't just walk out on a man who is obviously in love with you after sex! Hypocritical much? Not to mention walking out after fights and calling it quits. The only fight she deserved a dramatic reaction to was the vegas fight, BUT she should have told him it was over instead of running away! *proceeds to bang head into table.* She is impossible and infuriating.
It's like this book added random unnecessary things for more drama and then proceeded to forget about it (or bring it up randomly) :
-Oh you were almost engaged? Who cares.
-Oh, wait this casino owner was your ex? *in book for 5 seconds*
-Mom briefly mentioned as an alcoholic.
-Dad's using of you but never mentioned again.
-Get a dog but ditch him for months.
-DECIDES TO BE PETTY AND NOT ASK TO GET BACK TOGETHER BECAUSE THEY WANNA BE ASKED INSTEAD.
I have to give mad props to Travis. I do not know how that man wanted to keep Abby with how looney she acted. I swear she was worse than Travis.
(ironic since I read the review I wrote years ago on book 2, where I said Abby was perfect).
Though I will say I am furious about the Meghan incident. Abby had no right to be mad (she dumped him), but Travis expected to possibly get her back and he threatened any guy near her. Jerk face not cool.
The ending was kinda exciting but also like, huh? It felt impulsive and random. (For someone who hates Vegas, she really wanted to get married there?)
It just all together felt like a bunch of random scenarios placed together to form as much drama as possible to fill out a page limit. (Examples: Parker, Fire, Vegas, Clubs, Fights.) There are a lot of loose ends and questions that remained unanswered.
With all that said I do rate this book a 3. Sounds slightly high for all the issues, but this was a very enjoyable and addictive book. Super quick read, I just needed to shake off their annoyingness a bit.
I will be reading the rest of the short stories and the next book to see how my opinions feel on those.
