Book Review
THIS BOOK. I SWEAR THIS BOOK. The tears wont stop FLOWING. I was not prepared for this emotionally impactful story!
My gosh going into this story was going into it blind. I was ready for a good little story that I would read and then forget about soon enough. That was not what I got however, and I think this will be a story I’ll remember forever because it taught hard lessons we need to remember.
The beginning had me super confused, seeing the flashbacks between then and now. I’ve seen one other book do this that I can remember and that was All Your Perfects by . That was also in my top 3 favorite reads of 2019 and this book is in that list now too. Maybe the flashbacks is for deeply sad and meaningful books only?
The way that the story started all the way up to the point of the crash was the fun parts. It was enjoyable to see the fuss she had to do to get Dane’s attention as well as how they reconnected and how those feelings were still there.
Once we gathered the full story of what happened to cause the divorce between Audra and Dane it was like a puzzle fitting together.
Honestly when the plane started to crash I got freaked out and confused because I had forgotten they were supposed to get into a plane crash, so that was a massive surprise to me. The physical and emotional strength Audra had to care for Dane in those early days, the strength Dane had to care for Audra in the end days, and the strength they had together in the middle days was very beautiful and inspiring to see. They made me feel like I was on the mountain struggling as well, like I was filled with 7 years of despair and hurt.
To learn about how Audra had been surviving but not living all these years was painful. I felt so deeply for her having been all alone carrying that grief. She deserved a much happier life, and even though the two of them loved each other with their entire being, sometimes it’s too hard. Especially in a situation like that, because it is the deepest well of hurt that anyone can ever know, and there is no way of pulling yourself out of it. They should have had better people in their lives to force them to face the reality and hold onto each other. Instead everyone allowed them to slip away. Thinking about them spending 7 years separated is heart wrenching.
I will admit I immediately knew that Audra was gonna get pregnant and that the mysterious Bea in the letter was the evil Cruella DeVill grandma. I loved how she pulled this plan to get Dane and Audra back together, because she knew she was causing the hurt to them that she went through.
The tale of the Indian was beautiful especially with how it correlated in the story. I absolutely loved seeing Dane push Audra to face the truth and to see him help her through the grief. I enjoyed watching both characters realize the truth of things they didn’t realize back when they were married. It makes me so happy to know they made it out of their and that they’re going to live a long happy life together.
I absolutely loved loved loved this book! 5 big fat stars!
