Fatal instincts by: shelby_painter book review

This book was so GOOD! This is one of those absolute hidden gems on Wattpad that make me question why they aren’t expanded and published! There is a major gap in the book field for good werewolf books, and there are quite a few amazing ones on Wattpad, and this first book here is one of them.

Let’s start with Alyssa. I absolutely love her. She’s super kick-butt and is in control of herself. She is a crazy strong independent lead female character who I adore. Her humor is super dry and witty, and basically everything about her is something I want to have.

Getting to see into her past was very intriguing. I enjoyed those chapters a LOT because it provided us insight into why Alyssa was the way she is. It helped us see the puzzle pieces that put her together so to speak. Poor Alyssa has gone through so much complete and utter crap throughout her life. I don’t know how she continues to have the will to survive. How Tiffany did her? Screw that rotten bish. And then Timothy sucked butt and had the audacity to judge her and smack talk? Screw him too, I hope he gets herpes from his next stripper. Dylan was the only good thing to happen to her. He saw her for everything she was and loved every piece of her, and it freaking sucks that she had to lose him too. Ellison is so completely f’d up for the way he treated her. The physical and mental abuse that Alyssa went through is pure torture. I’m so happy that he is finally gone! He got his butt handed to him finally, I just hate how he went down thinking he killed Alyssa too.

I am so ANGRY! I absolutely hate that Stacey is still alive. I don’t trust her one bit. I know have no reason not to trust her, like poor girl got attacked, and kidnapped(?), and now the man she loves has fallen for a new girl, but really. Come on! Isn’t it slightly suspicious she is just showing up now??? Unless Pablo is giving her back so Daimon can choose her and Alyssa can become his? He isn’t supposed to know about Alyssa yet thought so it’s very screwy with me. Right now, I’m currently just freaking out and panicking at what is going to happen between Alyssa and Daimon in the next book. He better not abandon her for Stacey I swear!!!! I will absolutely lose my mind.

Side note: That Jon being the wolf chasing her was super obvious.

I am curious to her having to tell Daimon that she can’t have kids, or was that a lie Ellison told her? Because she mentioned in her mind that it wasn’t possible for Jon’s plans to happen, so that needs to be brought up. I’m hoping she can actually have kids and Ellison is a fat liar.

LOL Easton’s a doctor. Very funny.

Of course, Alyssa was an idiot trying to go off on her own, but I get it.

Also, what was the whole thing with her glowing eyes?!?! Are they mates? The way they acted about it made it seem like they were mates. But do mates exist, because the boys can't keep them around?

The entire relationship between Alyssa and Daimon was beautiful. I liked how he was a jerk to her and how without realizing it, he fell for her hard. It was a slow build and I enjoyed that because it’s more realistic than people falling in love immediately. The little scenes like the snake, breakfast, and tattoo moment made my heart squeeze. I loved, loved, loved how overprotective Daimon was of her, especially when he was acting like he was going to kill her. I did want to murder Daimon with the Timothy scene though. They are both so perfect for each other. She is extremely messed up, and he has a hard exterior. I was hoping the entire time he would finally change his computer background, but he never did!

I would rate this book a 3 on the writing decency scale! If the book ever did get around to being published it would just need some polishing with the editing, and some extending. The book felt super short, and it felt like there could be a lot more things added to it to give us more. I would love for the end to be extended especially so that I can see just how much Alyssa shared with Daimon over the course of her time in the hospital. I’d also like to see the bond between Alyssa and the pack more.

I’m super excited to see why exactly Alyssa is a born wolf. Hopefully we meet her parents and discover a reason for them leaving her. The second book has a lot it needs to cover and I am both nervous and excited for it. Can’t wait to start right now!
