Looking for Alaska By: John Green

Book Review

Ugh. This book. I originally read this book sometime in middle school, and I hated it then. I have only reread it now for a college class where we are tearing it apart. Why? Because it sucks.

Genuinely it’s such a bad book.

Alaska? Wow, she is literally the girl whose like, ‘ooo gee! I’m so different than other girls! I’m more weird than them!’ Like come on, you ARE every annoying girl out there. She tries to throw the feminism thing around like its a dang personality trait and I just really can’t. Honestly she was my least favorite character.

Pudge sucked as well. He had no personality and was just a massive pushover. He did whatever anyone else wanted, and didn’t stand up. Sure at the end he got a bit more strong but it was still weak.

Colonel was amazing of course. The only actual likable character.

I don’t really have much to say about Alaska dying except that after she died I liked the book more. I will say I cried when they found out she died in the gym. That hurt a lot.

Overall I am giving this book 2 stars.
