Book Review

Finally finished all the standalones from the Mayhem series! I’m teetering on what my exact order of favorites are. I know for sure that my favorite is Havoc, but Mayhem and Chaos are hard to choose between. Yes, that does mean that this book was my least favorite out of the series.

There was just some things in the behavior of the characters that rubbed me the wrong way.

1: Dee calling girls sluts repeatedly, when she herself is a major slut. Dee sleeps around with random men constantly, but then judges other for doing the same as her? I found it trashy. I know you think badly of people you hate, but it was just a constant in the book that I didn’t appreciate.

2: The other big thing I hated was Joel’s man slut ways. *Sigh*. Really? He was constantly sleeping with other women. I get that they ‘broke up’ or ‘weren’t really together’, but where is the respect? He goes on telling her he’s not asking her out and doesn't promise to not see other people, and then he gets angry when she spazzes? We all knew she was going to freak out. Instead of waiting for her to calm down a bit or fighting her on it, he went home and pouted at his moms. When she went to bring him HOME HOME, it’s obvious she has feelings for him and instead of acknowledging that AGAIN, he decided to run off and sleep around. He really walked in, f’d Dee, and walked right out with another girl. And then he had the audacity to give her a gift about the night he said ‘I love you’, while having two women in his house to have sex???? Honestly, I just can’t stand that type of thing.

The book was a super quick and easy read, but I was extremely annoyed about these things and I found it hard to connect to Joel because of it.

I did really enjoy the more emotional aspects of the book. This one out of all the books had the most background/hard home life storyline.

Overall a good read, so I’m rating it a 4!
