The Kiss Quotient by: Helen Hoang

book review

5 glowing stars.

This story was incredibly heartwarming. Everything about it made me want to smile and hug the characters.

The way the family dynamic and traditions were weaved throughout the story was the best. Some of my favorite scenes are the ones where they’re at his mom’s house.

It was like the two of them were made specifically for each other (obviously they were). The cute traits that matched up just right: her love for marshal arts type things and his hobbies and family, her clothe issues and his talent.

I grew extremely frustrated with the end though, mainly because Stella straight out admitted she was becoming obsessed with him and instead of being like 'oh wow maybe we should make this an actual relationship' Michael just ignored it? And then with the breakup he acted like she was just using and paying him when she CLEARLY SAID SHE WAS OBSESSED.

Random: Ah! He let her buy him a car! And got rid of the old one! Screw Aliza! Stella is strutting around with a 3 massive rocks on her hand!

I loved seeing the growth between both Michael and Stella. It was great character building and it in-captured how loving someone can turn you into your best self. The way the two attempted to destroy who they really were after the breakup (thinking that who they were wasn’t good enough) was devastating. I loved the realization between both of them that just because someone doesn’t love you back it doesn’t mean anything is wrong with you.

Another great lesson the story gave is that you are not your parents. You are your own person with different thoughts and morals. Don’t sell yourself short.

The whole story was such a good read. I’m so happy I chose to read about Stella and Michael's romance, it made my heart squeeze.
